Branches of Physics Essay #2 - 275 Words
Branches of Physics #2 (Essay Sample) Content: Branches of physics.Quantum mechanics is a subsidiary of physics which explains the ways of class on the atomic scale. It tells us how to calculate the structure of atoms and the interactions between atomic nuclei, while classical mechanics is a subsidiary of physics which primarily explains the motion of a particle in a linear manner.it is more of kinematics than dynamics. The branch of quantum mechanics which deals with different sub-atomic particles and their interactions including hard and weak interactions and also electromagnetic forces is called Elementary particle physics.Quantum mechanics deals with the submicroscopic world which is significantly different from the ordinary world because in the ordinary world, have no problem of knowing where things are, however, in the sub-atomic area for example the world of electrons and atoms can not speak with the same confidence about the situation of things. A certain amount of fuzziness enters into the description of reality at small dimensions of quantum mechanical world. The idea of uncertainty lies at Werner Heisenbergà ¢Ã¢â ¬s uncertainty principle formulated first in 1927. The principle states that "There is a complementary uncertainty between the position and velocity of a bit" that is the more just attempt to measure the position of a particle the unsure you become of how the particle will move. Conversely, the more accurately determine the strength of a whit the less sure become of it is the location. There always exists an analogous between energy and time.Classical mechanics is dominated by two fundamental concepts;1. The concept of the particle, by definition a particle is a distinct entity with exact position and momentum which moves in accordance with Newtonian laws of motion.2. The concept of the wave and by definition of an electromagnetic wave, it is an extended physical body at every point in the space provided by electric and magnetic fields, which vary in accordance with Maxwellà ¢Ã¢â ¬s laws of electromagnetism. The world of classical physics is generally neat and tidy; laws of particle motion description for the material world that is around us and laws of electromagnetic ...
